What if you consider your life as a corridor of time consisting of rooms which represent your life experiences as a timeline.
The first room is your life from 0-10 years, the second 11-20 years, the third 21-30 years, the fourth 31-40 years, the fifth 51-60, the sixth 61-70, the seventh 71-80, the eighth, and so forth. I wonder what room you're in now.
As you've probably noticed, a person with dementia sometimes appears not to remember yesterday's room or fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh room but remembers in detail experiences from the first, second, and perhaps the third room.
They seem to be living not in our present room but in a much earlier room at the beginning of their corridor.
Enter Their Room ... their world
How can we use this knowledge to greatly improve communication with them?
Explore stepping into their room when you are with them instead of assuming they are living in your room and your time now.
Enter their world - their room ... go through their door and talk and communicate as if you are living in their room.. in their time.
Imagine you're with them in their room, experiencing what they are experiencing ... seeing what they are seeing back then, hearing what they hear, feeling what they feel ...
...more tips on the way....
